My learnings from startup-ing

1.

“I have put my credibility at stake for you, don’t disappoint me”

the keeda

Startups that sell non-traditional solutions, are never short of fuel to carry on during tough times. The Nitro Boost is the above words from lighthouse customers who talk about you at the coffee machines, and volvo buses and alumni meets and dates..

2.

Prolonged bench time / beach time is the biggest ill of the IT world.. Join a startup, it can’t afford beaches or benches – literally and figuratively.

funday with sumi!

Last weekend Sumi my undergrad classmate visited us.. She’s so much fun to talk to, as always, and Prithvi took to Sumi-mashi right from start..

And we two chatted till 3am and till my stomach ached laughing, reminiscing those lab incidents, college trips, knowing a few secrets that happened on first day of college – thus far unknown to me! So good to have friends who can retain 14 year old memories intact! Just wish few others were also there!

Three cheers to college buddy gettogethers!

Even the photo is groggy!

the tamil mashi that speaks bangla as well!

First Denim!

Back in the last millenium when I was in CEG, waiting to get done with BE, I wanted to own a pair of jeans. Now, those days in chennai dames & denims were not typically seen together. And western wear shops were hardly present in the area I had access to (Indiranagar, Adayar). So the first one I bought was a boy’s denim from a men’s store and I refuse to call it my first denim – it was a warm-up denim.

So my first pair was a Bare Denim, straight cut, classic blue, bought from Pantaloons at the LB Road-KasturbaRoad signal, when I was in my first year with TCS. At that time, Odyssey was there at the top and Pantaloons on the ground floor of the building. I guess it is a Titan store now.

This pair was on me almost every weekend, and I remember rolling it up and standing in the ripples of Thiruvanmiyur Beach, listneing to Apu’s stories.  And I remember picking it up always as the rush hour choice before zooming out on the hero puch automatic. 🙂  So, like every pair of good denim owned by 20-somethings around the world, it was worn and often. But after I left for US – in 2003, I could not wiggle into it any more. Then it lived in my suitcase, as an aspirational piece – some day I will perhaps get back in shape and this denim was my yardstick.

Well, today, I am wearing it right now as I write this. YOOOHHOOO!

I totally love vintage and everything that’s old and still works! (i told this to V and he heaved a sigh of relief)

That’s Everything!

Gems from Siddhartha by Hermann Hesse – a book I read while waiting trying hours in the mixed atmospheres of  Ramachandra Medical College in 2009.

“”What is it that you’ve learned, what you’re able to do?”

“I can Think. I can Wait. I can Fast.”

“Is that everything?”

“I believe, that’s everything”
